2026 TRAINING CAMP

ROmans 12:4-5: For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

Training Camp isn't just a meeting; it's the foundation of everything we build. We don't just ask you to show up—we equip you to serve at whole new level! This is where we align our vision, sharpen our skills, and prepare to provide the platform Birmingham deserves.

If you’re ready to serve, you’re ready to train.

Training Camp showed me that RS isn't just about showing up to an event; it's about understanding the 'why' behind the work. It completely changed how I view community service.

what will camp include?

Spanning across nine weeks of the fall, Training Camp is a combination of interactive learning sessions that teach the prospects about our organization, how we operate as a team, and how to begin unlocking the best version of you!

Saturdays are MANDATORY training sessions that set the direction for the prospect's week, which will include supplementary sessions that further develop the prospect's relationship with the team, alumni, and navigating their own journey while in RS.

Chalk Talk: Camp preview

thursday, september 1

Welcome to the Locker Room. Step into the facility, clear player check-in, grab your official Prospect Packet, and hit the backdrop for your first official team photo. You’ll hear directly from the veterans on how this squad changes your trajectory, map out the strategic roadmap, and face the final commitment call before decide if you're ready to run with the team

The Breakdown for Parents: A high-level introductory briefing outlining the roadmap, standard of excellence, and generational pillars of the program: Honor, Order, and Service. This session serves as a transparency benchmark, allowing your student to fully understand the behavioral, time, and team expectations before officially committing to the roster.

Session 101 | The Starting Line

Week: 9/19 -  9/25

This isn't a casual volunteer group—it's a high-performance organization, and today we establish your baseline. We are diving deep into the history of the movement and assessing where you stand so we can help you unlock your potential over the next 8 weeks.

The Breakdown for Parents: Focuses entirely on organizational identity, behavioral guidelines, and foundational self-assessment. Students are evaluated on initial punctuality, engagement, and non-verbal communication habits. The developmental objective is establishing a baseline of self-awareness and professional alignment.

Session 102 | Culture over Clout

Week: 9/26 -  10/2

Moving from who we are to how we run. This is an operational super-session focused on soft skills that make you sharp, elite, and employable. Master professional communication, time stewardship, and conflict resolution, and prepare to officially lock in your commitment to the team's standard.

Breakdown for Parents: Covers rigorous professional development, practical ethics, time management, and resource stewardship. Through interactive simulations, students practice navigating peer-to-peer interactions constructively and maintaining emotional maturity under pressure. A signed behavioral covenant is required to remain on the roster.

Session 201 | Culture over Clout

Week: 10/10 - 10/16

It's time to learn the behind-the-scenes machinery of non-profit operations. We are pulling back the curtain on the Chain of Command, analyzing standard operating procedures (SOPs), and learning how to read a live corporate "Run of Show."

Breakdown for Parents:  Introduces operational management, administrative infrastructure, and basic project oversight. Students learn to navigate structured organizational hierarchies and follow standard corporate operating procedures. This training builds critical analytical thinking and administrative literacy.

Session 202 | The Position Combine

Week: 10/17 - 10/23

The ultimate talent showcase. Every single rookie will navigate high-intensity stations covering Marketing, Finance, Operations, Creative Arts, and Public Relations. The veterans are scouting you for their specific divisions to see where your natural talents shine

The Breakdown (For the Parents): A mandatory vocational rotation designed to expose students to various real-world career paths within organizational management. Students are assessed on corporate aptitude and technical adaptability, helping to identify each student's natural professional strengths and communication style.

Session 203 | Learning the Field

Week: 10/24 - 10/30

Classroom time is over; it's time to hit the pavement. Teams are deploying into the city for an interactive Scouting Mission to identify, evaluate, and capture data at prospective venue locations. You will learn what it takes to operate outside the building.

The Breakdown (For the Parents): An experiential learning excursion focused on urban exploration, field research, and strategic partnership evaluation. Students practice professional field advocacy and data collection, strengthening corporate presentation and public speaking skills.

Session 301 | Pre-Game Warm Up

Week: 11/07 - 11/13

This is servant leadership training at its highest level. We are mapping out the precise logistics for your live community project and assigning your operational roles. It’s time to prepare for game day.

Prepares students for live civic execution by emphasizing project management logistics, public service ethics, and community interaction protocols. This module focuses on character development, teaching students the difference between performance-driven volunteerism and genuine, community-first leadership.

Session 302 | Scrimmage Day

Week: 11/14 - 11/20

Game Day. Tip-Off Time. This live, high-impact community project is entirely designed, coordinated, and executed by your rookie class. Instructors and veterans will step back completely to evaluate your leadership under pressure.

The Breakdown (For the Parents): The practical capstone event where students assume total operational ownership of a live public service project. Evaluated via a strict performance rubric, students demonstrate their mastery of project management, real-time crisis resolution, team communication, and civic leadership.
